The 5th Annual Okanagan Music Awards
presenting sponsor announced

Teena Clipston from Scorpion Entertainment and Brad Krauza from Okanagan Concerts Ltd. are pleased to announce Tree Brewing as the presenting sponsor for the 2007 Okanagan Music Awards!

Kelowna, BC, The 5th Annual Okanagan Music Awards and Musicians Bash, presented by Tree Brewing, will be held this year at the Kelowna Community Theatre on October 10, 2007.

Kelowna-based Tree Brewing has made a commitment to the Okanagan Music Awards to be the title sponsor for this year’s event with the option for the next two years. “There are many people in the Okanagan that regularly purchase our products and have helped us grow into the thriving craft brewery we are today,” said Wayne Clements, President & CEO of Tree Brewing. “We want to thank everyone by helping support local entertainment. We hope that by participating, and making this event possible, it will encourage musicians to continue to follow their dreams and create great music for our community and beyond.”

The valley will have a chance to attend a celebration of musical endeavors by paying tribute to local musicians, their achievements, and the local scene. The Okanagan’s version of the Juno’s, the Okanagan Music Awards will present 25 Awards to the Okanagan’s 2007 favorites. The evening will include performances by local bands as well as a special guest headliner. Pre-show activities include; music industry seminars from SOCAN and Music BC. Lobby activities include; Industry displays, entertainment, food and licensed bar. As well, an after party and Jam will take place a special location.

Nomination forms have been released to the public and can be found in local newspapers as well as on line at www.scorpionentertainment.ca . The top 3 nominees, from each category, by public ballot will go to a committee of judges. These top nominees will then be judged on specific criteria and the winners will be drawn from these results.

This years panel of judges include: Panel chairperson Michael Schell from Kelowna Capital News, Dave Pears from CKOV, Patrick Nicol from Kiss FM, Sarah Willard from BC Musician Magazine, Shelly Vida from Vida Promotions, Bob D’Eith from Music BC, Sheryl MacKay radio host from CBC’s North by Northwest, Charlie Hodge from Kelowna Capital News and BC Musician Magazine, Andre Wetjen from Event Magazine, and Ed Schneider from the Penticton Herald.
